Working to protect the headwaters of southwest Oregon’s Elk River, one of the finest salmon and steelhead fisheries on the Pacific Coast.

Our Wilderness Campaign

Southwestern Oregon’s Elk River is one of the healthiest watersheds in the Pacific Coast — known for its ancient forests and for some of the strongest salmon and steelhead runs left anywhere. As it is, the Elk River provides world-class fishing and good jobs to the community of Port Orford. But as Oregon’s population grows, we need to think to the future. We need to keep some special places just the way they are for generations to come. That’s why sportsmen, civic leaders, business owners and others are advancing the Copper-Salmon Wilderness plan to protect 13,700 acres of the Elk River headwaters on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. But we can’t do it alone. We need you to act now to make sure our kids enjoy the freedom to catch trophy-sized salmon and steelhead, just as we enjoy today. Please join us and get involved.
